Community, Connection, and a Lesson Learned – My Experience at the Cope Creative Collective Exhibition

Last weekend, I had the joy of taking part in the Cope Creative Collective Exhibition, part of this year’s Rossendale Art Trail — and what an incredible experience it was.

The event brought together such a rich mix of artists, makers, and visitors from all corners of the local area and beyond. I felt completely inspired and energised by the sense of community and connection that ran through the whole event. It was a real privilege to be part of something that championed creativity so openly.

One of the best parts of the weekend was the chance to speak with so many people — fellow artists who visited the venue, makers showcasing their work, and art lovers who came out to support us. The conversations were flowing, and I found myself completely absorbed in sharing stories, hearing about others’ creative journeys, and just enjoying the company of like-minded people.

There was a real buzz throughout the space, and it was heartwarming to see other artists and crafters making sales, securing commissions, and building new connections. The collective spirit was strong, and it felt wonderful to cheer each other on. That sense of mutual support and encouragement is something I’ll always treasure from this event.

If I’m honest though, I spent so much time talking to others and soaking it all in, that I didn’t really stay close to my own stall. It meant I didn’t get as much of a chance to speak to visitors about my collection or the stories behind my work — or to help them see how a piece might belong in their home. It’s a lesson learned for next time: balance the joy of connection with being present for those moments of sharing my art more directly.

Still, I came away with so much — new inspiration, new connections, and a full heart. I’m grateful to everyone who stopped to chat, to the other brilliant creatives who made the space so special, and to the organisers for bringing it all together.

Here’s to more moments like these — and to showing up a little more for my own table next time.
