Transformation: Finding Strength in Uncertainty

If you read my last post, you’ll know that I’m going through a time of uncertainty with my job in the NHS. This has led me to reflect on previous moments in my life when the future felt unclear. A memory resurfaced recently—one from a transformational course I attended a few years ago. I don’t recall all the details, but one particular exercise stood out. We were asked to draw a timeline of our lives, marking key negative events above the line—those moments that felt like setbacks, challenges, or struggles. Then, we were asked to track the times we had transformed—when we took action and changed the course of our lives. As I completed the exercise, something became very clear: every time I had faced uncertainty or felt like life wasn’t going in the right direction, I had taken steps to change it. Whether it was during periods of depression or times when I felt stuck, I had always found a way to take back control. I had always done something to shift the trajectory of my life. That realisation was powerful. It showed me that I am resilient, that I have strength, and that no matter how difficult things seem, I have the ability to transform my situation. Remembering this has helped me move through the emotions of uncertainty—what some may recognise as the “change curve”—and step into a more positive, action-driven mindset. I’m taking control of my own life and my destiny, which feels both exciting and empowering. This is also why I’ve started my African Wildlife Series. To me, African animals—especially elephants—embody resilience. They endure harsh climates, environmental changes, and human impact, yet they continue to adapt and survive. Some species, sadly, haven’t been successful, but many persist despite the odds. I want to channel that resilience. I want to draw on the strength of these incredible creatures to keep me moving forward. Their energy and power inspire me, and through my art, I hope to capture that spirit—not just for myself, but for others who may need a reminder of their own resilience. So, this period of transformation is not just about change—it’s about growth, strength, and stepping into the future with intention. I don’t know exactly what lies ahead, but what I do know is that I have the power to shape it. And that’s a realization worth holding onto.
